✦ Synopsis

In this paper we derive a theory for binary mixtures of elastic solids in which the independent constitutive variables are the displacement gradients, displacement fields, volume fractions and volume fraction gradients. The theory is linearized and a uniqueness theorem with no definiteness assumption on the elasticities and no restriction on the initial stresses is presented.
