✦ Synopsis

The interaction of vortices with cylindrical defects is analyzed by an image method. In the case of layered superconductors, it allows to calculate the interaction between elementary (pancake) vortices and a circular dielectric region. The obtained results are used for analyzing the strong pinning of vortices by dielectric precipitates in the superconducting matrix.
