โฆ Synopsis
An improved value of coronal temperature is obtained by the degree of ionization method taking various processes into consideration. Comparison with some of the existing results has also been made.
The problem of establishing the temperature distribution in solar corona has been of interest to many workers in this field, since long. It has generally been dealt with in two ways, namely Doppler broadening method of spectral lines

The energy balance equation for a general solar atmosphere without assuming the planeparallel approximation is solved analytically. This leads to models for both the transition region and inner corona as well as for the outer corona. The form of the latter is very similar to that of the hydrostatic
The faint emission of hydrogen, helium and metals in the corona which appeared near an active prominence is studied. The calculations showed that the temperature of the emission region is in the limits from 10000 K to 30000 K and the electron density is between 109-10 x~ cm -3, respectively.
