## Abstract Samples of pure iron and of 18 pure binary alloys containing a nominal 0.1 or 0.5 wt.% of substitutional alloying element have been oxidised in air at 830 and 930 Β°C. The effects of the alloying element on the reactions at the scalemetal interface have been studied metallographically an
