Abstract

The validity of a superimposability principle for the electronic spectra of disubstituted benzene derivatives, proposed by Doub and Vandenbelt^5^ to interpret the principal absorption bands of some trisubstituted benzene derivatives is discussed for p‐aminosalicylic acid, β‐resorcylic acid and 2‐amino‐5‐chlorobenzoic acid.
