✦ Synopsis

It is shown that the complex coordinate stretching and diagonal anisotropy formulations of the perfectly matched layer are equi¨alent in a general orthogonal coordinate system setting. The results are obtained by taking ad¨antage of the tensorial in¨ariance of the line element.
