β¦ Synopsis
We have calculated the specific heat difference between normal and superconducting state at all temperatures (T) below Tc as a function of coupling strength spanning weak, intermediate and very strong coupling. We establish a maximum for the slope at Tc as well as for its value normalized to the jump which applies to any Eliashberg superconductor independent of the details of the boson exchange mechanism involved. The maximum is tested against known values for the slope in conventional superconductors. A comparison of our results with a recent experiment in the oxides is given and found to be problematic.
