Abstract
During the period 1990 through to 1993 a dry spell occurred over northβeast Brazil. The drought of 1993 was very severe. Rainfall series for northβeast Brazil are updated to 1993 and the drought conditions during 1993 are discussed. The 1993 drought seems to be connected at least partially to the unusual ENSO conditions during that year.
