✦ Synopsis
The relation between the transport of electrochemical evolved H, and Cl, from the electrode surface into the bulk of solution by convective diffusion and by gas bubbles was experimentally obtained at a temoerature of 25°C. The oortion of the reaction oroduct transferred bv convective diffusion and bv gas bubbles respectively depenhs on the current densit; and the electrolyte concentration. Up to high c&&t densities H, as well as Cl, leave the electrode surface partially by convective diffusion. At current densities higher than 100 mA cm-' hydrogen evolved reaches the electrolyte bulk only by gas bubbles. In the case of Cl, the part reaching the bulk of solution by convective diffusion is considerably also at high current densities-and high chloride concentration.
