Taking into account that C, = C O cos ( n m ~/ N ) for the m ~/ N mode, this equations are exactly the same as (II, 2) in which W,n is replaced by the values given in (II, 3).

โฆ Synopsis
Starting from the Maxwell equations, we deduce the properties of circularly symmetric T.M.-waves in a corrugated wave guide, terminated on both sides in the middle of a corrugation. It is assumed that the longitudinal electric field component at each corrugation mouth is an even function. These properties are known and may be proved by a rather simple argumentation. The interest of the method followed consists in its usefulness at calculating the proper frequencies of closed systems of cavities with slightly different diameters.
