Norm&coordinate calculations are carried out on a simple model of a cross link in trans-polyacetylene (P-4)_ The results indicate the need for a reanalysis of the presently accepted vibrational assignment of trans-PA and suzest the need for a more tborougb chemical study of purposely cross-linked PA
