✦ Synopsis

The height of a pool undergoing transient, bulk boiling is determined analytically. The results generalize existing theories by accounting for mass flow through the vessel floor and changing power supply, and delineate a term which describes the influence of vapour escape through the interface; the latter term quantifies the ultimate disappearance of the liquid when no fluid is added to the system.
