Abstract

Based on Graessley and Edwards scaling concepts, a new mixing rule for the entanglement density of miscible blends has been proposed. The arguments here used apply when the interactions in the blend do not affect too much the entanglement probability. The rule was compared with others (linear and geometric mixing rules) based on the entanglement idea of fixed interchain contact points. The predicted plateau moduli were successfully compared with experimental data of polystyrene‐poly(dimethylphenylene oxide) blends.
