โฆ Synopsis
In the present paper, the numerical analysis on necking deformation of a round bar of a thermoelastic-viscoplastic material under impact tension has been carried out by simulation applying finite element method associated with a thermoelastic-viscoplastic constitutive equation. In the simulation, the influences of those factors such as strain-rate sensitivity, inhomogeneity in strain-rate sensitivity, adiabatic temperature rise and thermo-softening on the necking and rupture of a round bar are investigated, and the results by simulation can reasonably represent the process of such a bar under impact tension.
