The kinetics of a typical ion-transfer reaction (ITR), like the reduction of Cd2+ ions, across surfactant monolayers is studied in methanol by means of dc-polarography. Combining kinetic parameters with adsorption data an elucidation of the mechanism of the inhibited discharge of Cd\*+ is attempted.
