โฆ Synopsis
To make the Fourier method effective and widely applicable to the analysis of linear structures subjected to vibration and shock loads, various tractable analytical inputoutput relations are desirable. In this paper a set of simple equality and inequality relations are derived which allow various response parameters to be conveniently estimated based on partial knowledge of the input and the structure. In particular, two lower bounds and eight upper bounds of the maximum response of linear systems are presented. Simple structures subjected to impulse loads simulating shocks and a random transient excitation simulating earthquakes are analyzed to show the application.
