✦ Synopsis

We present a method for finding invariants of nonlinear differential equations of third order. Some propositions are given, which allow to conjecture the existence (or nonexistence) of invariants of a given nonlinear equation. As applications, invariants of the reduced Korteweg--de Vales and Nagumo equations, besides others, are studied.
