✦ Synopsis
Numerical simulations of viscous flow problems with complex moving and/or deforming boundaries commonly require the solution of the corresponding fluid equations of motion on unstructured dynamic meshes. In this paper, a systematic investigation of the importance of the choice of the mesh configuration for evaluating the viscous fluxes is performed when the semi-discrete Navier -Stokes equations are time-integrated using the popular second-order implicit backward difference algorithm. The findings are illustrated with the simulation of a laminar viscous flow problem around an oscillating airfoil.
