β¦ Synopsis
It is shown that, disregarding irreversible effects, the phenomenological equations of the two-fluid model of helium II can be derived exactly from Landau's kinetic picture in which this substance is considered at the absolute zero of temperature as a non-viscous fluid, subject at higher temperatures to wave-like excitations. The discrepancies to which previous treatments seemingly gave rise disappear on a more careful analysis of the problem.
