We find an explicit formula for the total dimension of the homology of a free 2-step nilpotent Lie algebra. We analyse the asymptotics of this formula and use it to find an improved lower bound on the total dimension of the homology of any 2-step nilpotent Lie algebra.
We show that any finite group can act freely on a rational homology 3-sphere.
The following problem is investigated. Let L be a given finite language, LcL,= {ub: I ~o,bsn, of/~}. Determine the minimal natural number c(L) such that L can be generated by c(L) context-free productions. Among others, max c(L) = O(n'/log n) is proved, and languages satisfying c(L) = IL) are charac
