✦ Synopsis
A theoretical solution for centrally notched fixed-pinned ended column loaded concentrically or eccentrically in compression has been presented. The solution is based on the stress intensity concept and on methods of limit analysis. The experimental and theoretical results have been found to agree to within less than 5 per cent (a/h < 0.72).
