✦ Synopsis

We present an outline to calculate the principal and indirect portions of the planetary disturbing function, based on the method of W. M. Smart. We truncate the Taylor expansion at the third power of eccentricity-inclination.

The outline of a new method to obtain the negative powers of the mutual distance between two planets is also given, neglecting powers higher than the fourth in the eccentricity-inclination.
