A new method is proposed for estimating G(t), the distribution function of the distancc from an object to i t s nearest neighbour in n spatial point process. The new method makes more complete nee of the information svailable and has a smaller mean squared error than that of the exiRting alternatives. The method appear8 eqrinlly effective with random, clustered and regular patterns.
