✦ Synopsis
The error propagation for the Langmuir and Frumkin-Damaskin isotherm was analysed by randomly altering input surface tension. data within the range of twice the standard deviation of the experimental o/log c data. An analogous procedure was used to estimate the standard deviation of the additional interaction parameter a3 of the generalised Frumkin-Damaskin isotherm. The intervals of the interaction parameters a1,2 were determined, in which the Frumkin-Damaskin isotherm leads to unique solutions for the surface concentrations. This interval is.0 <a < 2 for the Frumkin isotherm, but shrinks with increasing interfacial displacement of solvent molecules by surfactant molecules. The interval of a3, in which the generalised Frumkin-Damaskin isotherm yields unique surface concentrations, was determined for two concrete systems. The value of a3 may exceed the maximum values of a1,2 without leaving the domain of unique solutions.
