Abstract
An investigation is made of the equilibrium form of a step line, formed by the intersection of a screw dislocation with the surface. The case examined by FRANK is generalized with the assumption that the supersaturation, or undersaturation, is nonβzero and that the specific surface energy does not depend on the crystallographic orientation. A function describing the equilibrium form of a step line is given together with the conditions under which this form occurs.
