✦ Synopsis

The paper presents a revisited energy approach to the theory of a set of n coupled inductors. The hybrid constitutive relations are analyzed. It is shown that the fundamental relation expressing the energy of the system requires a minimum number of coupling terms i f a set of hybrid independent variables is adopted. The hybrid independent variables also allow to represent singular systems having zero magnetizing energy or zero leakagefield energy, or both, and to give a rigorous definition of the ideal transforme,: Exact equivalent networks of both two-and three-winding transformers are presented.
