✦ Synopsis
An inner asymptotic expansion method wasrecently used to derive an analytical solution for the propagation of small disturbances through thin sheared flow regions. The method is shown to be applicable as well to the case when there are also density and sound speed gradients in the shear layer. Several applications of the technique are outlined and brieflydiscussed.
