โœฆ Synopsis

Abstract

The effect of copper (II) and chloride ions on the manganese (II) catalyzed iodateโ€peroxide reaction has been examined with reference to the hydrogen peroxideโ€iodic acidโ€manganese (II)โ€organic species oscillatory reaction. The observations are considered to provide evidence for iodine dioxide as the key intermediate in the manganese (II) catalyzed reaction. Kinetic data for the copper (II) catalyzed reaction are reported.

## Abstract The oxidation of catechol in neutral and slightly alkaline aqueous solutions (pH 7โ€“9.6) by excess hydrogen peroxide (0.002โ€“0.09 mol/L) in the presence of Co(II) (2.10^โˆ’7^โ€“2.10^โˆ’5^ mol/L) is accompanied by abrupt formation of red purple colouration, which is subsequently decolourized wit
