β¦ Synopsis
From a simple consideration, the eddy diffusivities for momentum and heat are shown to be equal in terms of statistical properties of turbulence. A universal semi-empirical expression for the eddy diffusivities in a turbulent shear flow is obtained in terms of the distance from the solid boundary and flow properties. 6) is a rough approximation on the eddy diffusivities in terms of the distance from the wall and flow properties, it is a daring attempt to try to obtain an explicit expression for eddy diffusivities and to relate the classical approach with the statistical theory of turbulence.

Tracer diffusion in a steady state with both velocity and temperature gradients is analyzed. The results are obtained from a kinetic model that incorporates a temperature dependence in the collision frequencies. This allows for the consideration of general r-t-repulsive interactions. ## Abstract A pilot study of the horizontal eddy transport of angular momentum in the meridional direction, based on radio wind observations over the North American sector of the northern hemisphere, is presented. The results are in harmony with general frictional requirements except that the trans
