Following the framework and spirit of the comprehensive monograph of Kikuchi and Oden [N. Kikuchi and J.T. Oden, Contact Problems in Elasticity (SIAM, Philadelphia), 19881, some improvements in the proofs of convergence for the penalty method of dual problem and the error estimate for the finite element approximation to the mixed problem are provided.
