✦ Synopsis

The structure of perovskite-like BaTbO 3 has been reinvestigated by high-resolution powder neutron di4raction at room temperature using HRPD at the ISIS Facility. It has been shown that neither the space group R3 c nor Pnma describes correctly its structure. The pro5le re5nement has demonstrated that BaTbO 3 is tetragonal, space group I4/mcm, with the cell parameters a ‫؍‬ 6.04832(4) A > and c ‫؍‬ 8.58569(10) A > . This result is in agreement with the conclusions of Woodward, that the space group R3 c is unlikely adopted by the A 2Ψ‰ B 4Ψ‰ O 3 -type perovskites.

The crystal structure of the quaternary compound CuTaInSe 3 belonging to the system (CuInSe 2 ) 1-x (TaSe) x with x= 0.5, was analyzed using X-ray powder diffraction data. This material is isostructural with the CuFeInSe 3 compound, and crystallize in the tetragonal space group P42c (NΒΊ 112), Z = 1,
