✦ Synopsis

An expression derived recently describing the dependence of single ionic activity coeflicients on solution composition is compared with earlier work. The condition that must be met for the two approaches to be compatible is derived and shown to apply to a solution in which the ions associate to form a series of charged complex species whose distribution functions conform to Debye-Hiickel theory.
