✦ Synopsis
The behavior of hot crack (tearing) mechanism during solidification in two Fe–Ni alloys. The mechanical properties during solidification, with focus on their hot crack (tearing) behavior, were investigated by tests on “in‐situ” solidified samples. Hot cracking susceptibility was determined by using the transition temperature for area reduction (hot ductility), e.g., the transition temperature between brittle and ductile fractures. The results of the tensile tests are compared with the liquidus and solidus temperatures, measured by thermal analysis.
