✦ Synopsis


Impedance data of the Ag/Ag+ electrode at equilibrium potential are interpreted on the basis of Lorenz et al.3 model of partially active electrode surface. Linear and lateral diffusion controlled the faradaic process on active parts, in parallel with linear and lateral diffusion controlled adsorption-zlesorption of Ag+ ions on inactive parts of the electrode surface, shunted with overall double-layer capacitance, served as the physical model for interpretation of data. The derived relationships agree well with experimentally obtained data. Six frequency independent parameters which describe the total electrode impedance are evaluated, and their dependence on the concentration of Ag+ ions is discussed.
