## Synopsis A formula is derived for the intensity of those simultaneous transitions in gas mixtures in which take part an infrared-active vibrational transition of one molecule and a Raman-active vibrational transition of another molecule. We applied this formula to the simultaneous transition ob

β¦ Synopsis
The absorption intensity of simultaneous vibrational transitions has been measured in the spectra of SF6 and CF., mixtures with 02 and N2. Cakulated intensities are in satisfactory agreement with experimental values. It is surmised that in simultaneous electrork-vibrational transitions the intensity could be enhanced by a resonance phenomenon, similar to the resonance Raman effect.
