โฆ Synopsis
The speafic heat of some mqnets evhlbits a maumum centered to the left of the cntlcal potnt. Thts anomaly can be cxplamed by taking mto account heterophase fluctuations UI the magnets.
There are several experimental e~~~~ples of magnetic speak-heat anomalies occurrtng below the cntical pomt Bc_ Such an anomaly hes m the fact that a maxrmum IS observed, whtch IS centered below 6,, whereas m the usual case the specrtic heat to the left of the transition pomt is a monotomcally mcreasmg functron of temperature [ 1). An anomaly of thrs kmd was found m the antiferromagnetrc PrCu? and was explained by the exrstence of a combined eiectron-nuclear magnetrc order [2] _ Another reason provoking the appearance of specrfic-heat maxuna below Bc 1s a reorientatron of magnetrzaticn m a sample 131.
However, there exrst cases when the occurrence of such anomahes IS not yet completely elucrdated. Thrs concerns anttferromagnetrc dysprosium dihydndes DyH? [4,5], ferromagnetic polycrystalline and antrferromagnenc single-crystalline EuB, [6,7].
