✦ Synopsis

In this paper we obtain several characterizations of general R-spaces. These results are extensions of some well-known characterizations of symmetric R-spaces that exist in the literature. We try to establish a one-to-one correspondence between the known results for symmetric R-spaces and our proposed extensions.

## Abstract Generalized Orlicz–Lorentz sequence spaces __λ~φ~__ generated by Musielak‐Orlicz functions φ satisfying some growth and regularity conditions (see [28] and [33]) are investigated. A regularity condition __δ__^__λ__^ ~2~ for φ is defined in such a way that it guarantees many positive top
