Finitely Presented Normal Subgroups of a

We show that if โŒซ is a finitely presented normal subgroup of a product G = G 1 2 of Fuchsian groups which projects nontrivially to each factor, then โŒซ has finite index in G = G . The proof uses the author's previous reduction of the descrip-1 2 tion of normal subdirect products to the abelian case

On Connected Transversals to Subgroups W
โœ Markku Niemenmaa ๐Ÿ“‚ Article ๐Ÿ“… 1997 ๐Ÿ› Elsevier Science ๐ŸŒ English โš– 70 KB

We consider finite groups which have connected transversals to subgroups whose order is a product of two primes p and q. We investigate those values of p and q for which the group is soluble. We can show that the solubility of the group follows if q = 2 and p โ‰ค 61, q = 3 and p โ‰ค 31, q = 5 and p โ‰ค 11

ON DEFINABILITY OF NORMAL SUBGROUPS OF A

## Abstract In this note we treat maximal and minimal normal subgroups of a superstable group and prove that these groups are definable under certain conditions. Main tool is a superstable version of Zil'ber's indecomposability theorem. MSC: 03C60.

Effect of ethanol on lactic acid product

Several studies have suggested that muscle lactic acid production is defective in alcoholic myopathy. However, normal controls have not been evaluated. To study the effects of ethanol on the production of lactic acid in normal exercised muscle, oral ethanol (1 g per kg body weight, 20% v/v) was give
