Abstract

In this paper, some necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of the positive definite solutions for the matrix equation X + A^*^X^โˆ’ฮฑ^A = Q with ฮฑ โˆˆ (0, โˆž) are given. Iterative methods to obtain the positive definite solutions are established and the rates of convergence of the considered methods are obtained. Copyright ยฉ 2006 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

Let E be separable q-uniformly smooth Banach space, q ) 1, and let A: ลฝ . D A : E ยช E be a K-positive definite operator. Let f g E be arbitrary. An iterative method is constructed which converges strongly to the unique solution of the equation Ax s f. Our result resolves two questions raised by C. E

It is pointed out that the main results in a recent paper by Kano (1987) have previously been published in the literature. IN KANO (1987), necessary and sufficient conditions are given for the existence and uniqueness of positive definite solutions to the algebraic Riccati equation and asymptotic s

We consider the nonlinear singular differential equation where ยต and ฯƒ are two positive Radon measures on 0 ฯ‰ not charging points. For a regular function f and under some hypotheses on A, we prove the existence of an infinite number of nonnegative solutions. Our approach is based on the use of the
