โฆ Synopsis
I definitely agree that the empiric use of nalexone following a painful procedure is not usually needed. We routinely administered the naloxone in this study only because this was part of the protocol. In clinical practice, I do not give naloxone in this setting unless the patient has a specific indication for its use, such as a low oxygen saturation. Naloxene, like all drugs, should be given for a specific indication, not blindly.
