The electrooxldatlon of D-glucose has heen studled m alkaline medmm on pure and modified noble metal electrodes Analysis of the reactlon products was carned out usmg eon exchange hqmd chromatography Glucarlc and keto-Zglucomc acids were produced with relatively high yields Reaction mechamsms for the electrooxldatlon of D-glucose were proposed and the D-gh#COSe consumption was shown to follow a first-order reactlon law The results showed that the apphed potential, the nature of the electrode as well as the nature of adatoms were determmmg parameters for the selectlvlty of the electrocatalytlc oxldatlon of D-glucose
