✦ Synopsis

A series of experiments on steel 40 was conducted under nonproportional cyclic loadings. Using data from this experimental investigation, Lensky's hypothesis of local determinability is analysed in elastic and elasto-plastic conditions. It is shown that, under nonproportional cyclic loading paths, the above hypothesis does not hold in Ilyushin's total strain space, nor in the plastic strain space.
