✦ Synopsis

We give a new simple proof to Thara's conjecture on the coeflicients of his power series interpolating Jacobi sums as an application of the method of proof of our congruence for the Gauss sums previously obtained by the author. More precisely, we will determine the coefficients (\left(\bmod l^{n}\right)) of the Gauss sum power series, which is defined naturally in terms of Gauss sum. As an application, we get Anderson's power series and Ihara's power series. A 1995 Academic Press, Inc.

We study D0L power series. We show how elementary morphisms introduced by Ehrenfeucht and Rozenberg can be used in connection with power series, characterize the sequences of rational numbers and integers which can appear as coe cients in D0L power series and establish various decidability results.
