✦ Synopsis

The mechanical properties of aluminium matrix composites reinforced with differently coated fibres were investigated. Special experiments on samples with a partially dissolved matrix were carried out in a scanning electron microscope. The influence of the fibre strength and of the package of fibres, of the interface and of the manufacturing process has been investigated.
