In the course of the dissection of tho thigh and gluteal region of an adult white male, there was clisco-ored on the right side a sepsrate muscle (fig. 1,A), 6.25 em. long, passing through the grea.ter sciatic foramen (foramen ischiadic w majus), inferior to the pinformis muscle, but separated from it by a wcll-dehed interval. The posterior femoral cutaneous nerve was superficial to the muscle and the inferior gluteal artery and sciatic nerve (11. ischiadicns) were deep to it.
