β¦ Synopsis
A function containing four parameters allowing close approximation of experimental stress-strain relationships is presented. The parameters are easily determined from corresponding conditions at the ends and inside of the total interval of the strain variation from zero strain up to failure strain. The family of curves obtained covers an area on the stress-strain plane where any acceptable stress-strain curve can pass. The softening behaviour of soils can also be taken into consideration.
