โฆ Synopsis
In the July 1993 issue of the American Journal of Physical Anthropology, Bedford et al. (1993) presented a test of the multifactorial aging method using skeletons with documented age-at-death. This blind study utilized three to four criteria as a basis of summary age estimates. The age indicators included auricular surface, pubic symphysis, and radiographs of the clavicle and proximal femur. Bedford et al. (1993) applied the standards established by Lovejoy et al. (1985) for the aforementioned methods. Their study concluded with the following statement: The method produces estimated age distributions which are statistically indistinguishable from those of real age (Bedford et al., 1993: 297).
