Abstract

We study a non‐linear problem in pressure saturation modelling of a free boundary problem, arising in self‐lubricating bearings, with Neumann boundary conditions for the pressure and a non‐local constraint on the saturation variable, which indeed is a Lagrange multiplier. We prove an existence theorem by introducing an artificial time dependence and using the pseudo‐characteristics discretization method and semi‐coercive variational inequalities.
