✦ Synopsis

A new fluorescence emission band in aqueous and methyl cyanide solutions of Eu(IIX) is reported_ It is much broader than the f-f emission bands, and appears upon excitation at about 250-300 rnp. L,, changes from 350 to 410 rnp as water concentration is decreased. Changing from light :o heavy water has little effect on the new band.
