## Abstract A variety of cell types respond to electrical stimuli; accordingly, many conducting polymers (CPs) have been used as tissue engineering (TE) scaffolds, and one such CP is polypyrrole (PPy). PPy is a wellβstudied biomaterial with potential TE applications because of its electrical conduc

Abstract
In this paper we derive a hierarchy of models for electrical conduction in a biological tissue, which is represented by a periodic array of period Ξ΅ of conducting phases surrounded by dielectric shells of thickness Ρη included in a conductive matrix. Such a hierarchy will be obtained from the Maxwell equations by means of a concentration process Ξ· β 0, followed by a homogenization limit with respect to Ξ΅. These models are then compared with regard to their physical meaning and mathematical issues. Copyright Β© 2005 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

## Abstract The nonβlinear contact problem for the parabolic system of second order in the sense of Pietrovski, which is the generalization of the problem considered in Part I (preceding paper), is formulated. The matrix of fundamental solutions for parabolic systems of second order with coefficien
A sensitive and simple method for the quantitation of oligonucleotide phosphorothioates in biological fluids and tissues is described. This method is based on the extraction of the oligonucleotide from the biological fuids and tissues and immobilization on a nylon membrane. The membrane-bound oligod
A method for the detection and quantitation of acetone in biological tissues is described. The solvent was extracted with nitrogen gas from the biological specimen and adsorbed on a porous polymer (Porapak Q). The acetone content of the adsorbent was determined by conventional gas chromatographic an

A class of nonlinear time series models are developed based on the Ricker biological population abundance model. These models are useful in providing some description to aid understanding of the complex underlying population dynamics. They are proved to have some desirable probabilistic and statisti
